Designing A Wedding Ring
Your unique wedding ring is one of the most important parts of the ceremony. Designing a wedding on your own can be a recipe for disaster if you don’t know where to begin! Luckily wedding rings in general are fairly simple to design as long you stick to a few important rules.
The first thing you should do is set a strict budget. This is vitally important as it’s very difficult to start designing a wedding ring when you don’t have an idea of how much you can spend. If you want a jeweller to create a unique ring for you it will probably cost more because of the extra labour cost, so make sure you take that into account.
Your wedding ring must match or complement the engagement ring. The simplest option is to choose the same metal colour as the engagement ring. If you go for a simple band then this makes it easy to design a ring, but if you want a more complicated design with diamonds or other gems then you must make sure they don’t clash with the engagement ring as they’ll be worn on the same finger.
Now you need to decide on which jewels you’ll include in the design. Be careful of the cost at this stage, it can rapidly increase! If you’re going for diamond then you’ll have to decide what carat you want. Of course carat diamond is more desirable, but only if you can afford it.
Lastly, if you’re designing the ring for your partner you MUST make sure they like the design before sending it to your jeweller to be created. This will avoid disappointment on the day, and even if your partner doesn’t like it often a few simple changes made with their advice can make all the difference. A surprise isn’t always the best idea on a wedding day as they are prone to going wrong!
